Defensive Facts

In our high scoring offense the following is often overlooked. From a report on ESPNU, we lead the nation in tackles for loss (10 per game). Add that to being 3rd in the nation for interceptions and third in the nation in sacks and this defense is truly spectacular. They haven't given up over 20 points this year. In 5 of our 6 games we've held the opponent to their lowest score for the season:

Rutgers 15 points (2nd 17) (3rd 23)
SEMO 3 points (2nd and 3rd 14)
OSU 18 points (2nd 23) (3rd 28)
Fresno State 20 points (2nd 31) (3rd 34)
Miami (OH) not the lowest
South Florida 17 points tied with Florida State (3rd 34)

I don't think you can say enough how much Bob Diaco, the new defensive coordinator, has done with 10 new starters and the switch from a 4-3 to a 3-4, no easy change. Truly impressive!
