No, not for football. After the NC is done, guess where many writers are placing UC basketball next year? SI has us at 12th. If you're riding on the fence for season tickets next year I'd recommend jumping on board, don't you wish you would have earlier when football came out of nowhere?
BTW, we can all criticize and support Cronin in different ways, but he accepted almost half of what NC State was offering to stay in Cincinnati with some program improvements. $1.4M per year vs. over $2M there, both long-term contracts. Ponder that for a moment, how many coaches would do that? For UC? For all the talk of "loyalty" in sports this is the best example I can think of putting your money where it counts. BTW, he's still in the lower half of BE coaches' salaries. Heck, Marquette's coach makes more!
Loyalty is a two-way street though, and winning and growth isn't linear in sports. I think we're on the right PATH, but it's not a straight climb. Hopefully fans will keep that in perspective, especially in the brutal BE facing 8 HOF coaches every year with bigger budgets than we currently have.
GO CATS!
