Elliott, Bearcats Add Three to Recruiting Class

I don't follow women's basketball too much, but there have been some interesting developments at UC this and last year. Click on the article here to read. Basically, Coach Elliot, who had won multiple championships at UConn both as a player and assistant coach, in as little as two years has SIGNIFICANTLY upgraded the talent on our roster. She signed Kayla Cook, the all time leading scorer in the state of Ohio, a top JUCO, and now Banks, a top B10 player at Michigan who has decided to transfer to UC. With the right coach and good roster I see no reason why women's basketball can't be a fan friendly sport that when successful, draws enough support to at least break even. Good luck to Coach Elliot and go Bearcats!

Baseball Closes Out Regular Season at Home vs. Georgetown

The last home series of the UC baseball season is this weekend. Check out here for details.

Even Mo gets in on the action.

IT'S EVERYTHING ABOUT BASEBALL YOU SAY YOU WANT
UC v. Georgetown. Friday. 6:30. I'm going. So should you.

Let's review some of the common gripes we hear about going to a Major League game....

"I want to see some hustle, see guys play for the love of the game."
Check out a college game. These guys play. How much do these gusy love the game? They serve as their own grounds crew.

"Tickets are too expensive."
Tickets Friday are going to be a dollar. One dollar. Adults and kids. Mention you heard about this on ESPN1530 and you get in for a buck.

I can't take my kids. The games start too late and it's not family friendly. And their too long.
Marge Schott Satdium is exceptionally family friendly. Your kids can get close to the action. The game will begin at 6:30. And they move much more briskly than a Major League game. Sunday's UC win over Pitt took less than two hours. Most of their games have lasted less than 2:30. Just two have gone longer than three hours. And with the price, if you have to leave early, you won't feel like you're out anything. College baseball is ideal for introducing young kids who might not be ready for the Majors to the sport.

"Concessions are too pricey."
While Marge Schott Stadium doesn't have the selection offered up at a Major League Game (non funnel fries), they do have them, and the prices pale in comparison to what you pay in the Big Leagues. And yes, they serve beer. Not at $7.50 a hit either.

"There's no attachment to the city from these guys."
UC has 13 players from the Greater Cincinnati area.

So what else do you need? It'll be a fun way to kick off a Friday night, and it's Armed Forces Appreciation Night. The Bearcats are playing for a bid in the Big East Tournament. Join us for a beer and a ballgame.

A Special Day On Campus

Helping to Feed the Homeless

Nippert Stadium: Charming, too small

A decently well done article that goes over many of the issues we have with what to do with Nippert. The bottom line is if we continue to do well we need avenues to generate revenue in terms of more seats, boxes, etc in order to compete in the BCS. Read about it here.

Big Ten's growth may seal UC's fate

It's simply the biggest story to affect UC since joining the BE. What happens from here will decide if we remain BCS and "big time" or fall back to CUSA or the MAC. Yes, it's that important. Enquirer Story

Sold Out?

This from the assistant AD and marketing department. If you've not secured your tickets yet I suggest you get in the que ASAP!

With the UCATS deadline just passed we are still processing information. If you are asking me to make a projection I stand by my earlier projection that we will be SOLD OUT by the end of July. Again, our projections as of today have us at around 2000-2500 tickets away from being SOLD OUT. This is based on the number of accounts that we have processed to date, the number of accounts through the deposit process that will now be processed in the order they were received, and the average number of tickets per account. The renewals from UCATS members have already bumped our number about 20% higher than this same time last year, which is a great sign and only partially reflective of the bump we will receive from the big season of a year ago.

It's a great time to be a BEARCAT indeed. If any of you are experiencing any issues at all with our renewal process, your UCATS account, etc... please contact me directly

Thanks for your support and interest in UC Athletics.
